""One of the cool ones right out of the start of Syngenta was azoxystrobin and Quadris®,""
""That's really provided a good, solid fusarium control in cereals and corn,""
""They were a bit more of a step change from what was on the market previously, or what was available,""
""Many other things are nuances or incremental change, but those were more significant, in my mind, from [my] experience.""
Crop protection innovation over 25 years produced major agronomic advances that changed grower practices. Azoxystrobin and Quadris® improved rhizoctonia control in potatoes and supported pulses like chickpeas and lentils. Pinoxaden marketed as Axial introduced a relevant Group 1 herbicide option in Western Canada. The Miravis® brand and the ADEPIDYN® molecule delivered consistent fusarium control in cereals and corn across wet and dry conditions. The sector shifted from single active ingredients to integrated solutions such as seed treatments and herbicide premixes to manage resistance and reduce risk. Additional new active ingredients are planned for rollout in 2026.
