"Group 14s are known for rapid burn down of emerged weeds. Group 27s are a bleaching herbicide and also very effective on actively growing emerged weeds. The two groups work on different parts of the plant, providing complementary weed control mechanisms for enhanced efficacy."
"Avireo is registered for use ahead of wheat and barley as a pre-seed herbicide targeting actively growing broadleaf weeds. It combines two modes of action - Group 14 and Group 27 - making it the first Group 14/27 herbicide combination available in Western Canada."
"In southern geographies, it provides control of Group 2, 4 and 9 resistant kochia. In northern regions, it offers an option for managing flushing weeds such as cleavers and volunteer canola, providing an alternative mode of action in those areas."
FMC is launching Avireo herbicide as its flagship product among seven new offerings planned for 2026. Registered for pre-seed application on wheat and barley, Avireo targets actively growing broadleaf weeds using a dual-mode approach combining Group 14 and Group 27 herbicides—the first such combination available in Western Canada. Group 14 herbicides provide rapid burn-down of emerged weeds, while Group 27 bleaching herbicides work on different plant parts for enhanced effectiveness. Avireo delivers broad weed control spectrum, managing Group 2, 4, and 9 resistant kochia in southern regions and flushing weeds like cleavers and volunteer canola in northern areas. FMC received registration last fall and is preparing market introduction for spring.
