The annual 10-day event in Paris is the highlight of the agricultural calendar and also attracts tens of thousands of Parisians (plus a bunch of politicians), all eager to see the prize-winning cows. However on Wednesday it was announced that the cattle classes will not take place at the 2026 show, due to outbreaks of the highly contagious cattle virus"
"There will only be a few "limited and symbolic" cattle exhibitions, not the hundreds of bovines usually on display, competing the win the national final in their various classes. Organisers added that other animals - including sheep, pigs, horses, donkeys and rabbits - will be present as normal at the February event, although poultry classes have also been cancelled due to bird flu."
Paris' Salon de l'Agriculture will run from February 21 to March 1, 2026, largely without cattle because of outbreaks of Lumpy Skin Disease in France. Organisers will stage only a few "limited and symbolic" cattle exhibitions rather than the hundreds of bovines that usually compete in national finals. Other animals such as sheep, pigs, horses, donkeys and rabbits will attend as normal, while poultry classes have been cancelled because of bird flu. The show will be held at Porte de Versailles on the outskirts of Paris and continues to showcase French agricultural produce and draw tens of thousands of visitors and politicians.
