"Don't be afraid to introduce new legislation... as long as it's logical and you have people that agree with you, we can get that done,"
"Recognition to honor and make real change is not just in one year. It's a continuous evolution that will change our policies, attitudes, and spending."
On February 12, 2026, NASDA launched the International Year of the Woman Farmer to elevate women in agriculture and promote innovation and sustainability. The initiative was unveiled at the NASDA 2026 Winter Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., which gathered agricultural leaders, policymakers, and advocates. NASDA CEO Ted McKinney stressed women's roles across production, innovation, and leadership and committed to aligning policies with their needs. A plenary session moderated by NASDA President Amanda Beal featured Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, Mary Boote, and Krysta Harden. Speakers called for new legislation and sustained recognition to change policies, attitudes, and funding toward greater equity.
