Apache AS1250XP brings mechanical drive back to high-clearance sprayers
"The AS1250XP model features a 300-horsepower Cummins 6.7-litre engine paired with a six-speed ZF powershift transmission, along with JCB differentials and drop boxes, says Johann Badenhorst of Apache Sprayers. What sets the unit apart, he says, is the all-mechanical drive, the only mechanical drive sprayer in the market, Badenhorst says, adding that this design makes the machine easier to work on, more reliable, and capable of handling higher hours."
"Apache says the mechanical drivetrain also helps reduce operating costs, as operators can gear up and lower engine RPMs in flat-field conditions, running at 1,400 to 1,500 RPM for improved fuel efficiency. The AS1250XP weighs approximately 29,000 pounds empty. The unit on display at Crop Production Show (and in the video above) featured 132-foot Pommier aluminum booms equipped with Raven XRT height control. Each nozzle uses a Capstan system, with 80 nozzles functioning as 80 individual sections to allow for turn compensation and precise application."
