'An amazing sight to see': Video shows bear swimming with 2 cubs on its back in Mass. reservoir
Briefly

A fisherman filmed a mother bear swimming across Quabbin Reservoir with her two cubs on June 25. The video highlights how black bears often swim to cool off during hot weather and have been encroaching into residential areas in Massachusetts. Wildlife officials emphasize the importance of keeping food sources secure to prevent bears from entering yards. They also advise on how to behave if encountering a bear, including remaining calm and backing away to ensure an escape route for the animal.
My buddy took me out on the Quabbin for some fishing, and all of a sudden we see a Momma Bear Swimming across the Quabbin to an island with her 2 tiny baby cubs on her back.
Black bears can often be seen swimming to cool off during hot summer months in both backyard swimming pools and natural bodies of water.
Bears will visit birdfeeders, orchards, and beehives. It is not unusual for bears to use residential areas, and they are often attracted to yards by bird feeders and unsecured trash.
Officials urged the public to remember that bears should be appreciated from a distance for the safety of both humans and the animals.
