Milan were close to completing a deal for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta during the winter transfer window. The move was stopped when Mateta did not pass his medical because of concerns about the condition of his knee. The situation has created internal division within the club, but Milan still need a new striker as the season ends.
