Official: Luca Zufferli to officiate Milan vs. Pisa - near-perfect record so far
"This weekend's game between AC Milan and Pisa will be officiated by Luca Zufferli, who has only taken charge of one Rossoneri game previously. The AIA, the Italian Referees Association, announced the designation for the game on October 22, and Zufferli will take charge at San Siro on Friday. Rossi and Mastrodonato will help officiate, whilst Collu is the fourth official."
"Gariglio and Doveri will be in charge of the VAR, which will be watched heavily after last weekend's 'error'. Good and bad Zufferli's record in charge of the Rossoneri is not exactly broad, with him only officiating one game previously, a 3-0 win against Lecce in September last year, also at San Siro. However, there was a glaring moment in that fixture."
"In the 80th minute, Davide Bartesaghi was shown a red card, which left the Diavolo 'furious' with the decision being a mistake. Instead, the decision should have been a yellow card, as reports at the time suggested. Nevertheless, barring that, it was quite a solid performance from the 35-year-old. Of course, Massimiliano Allegri will be hoping for a similar result tonight, given his team can extend their time at the top of the Serie A table if they win against Pisa."
Luca Zufferli is appointed to referee AC Milan's home match against Pisa at San Siro on Friday. The AIA confirmed the designation on October 22, with Rossi and Mastrodonato assisting and Collu as fourth official. Gariglio and Doveri are assigned to VAR, which will receive close scrutiny after last weekend's error. Zufferli has only overseen one Milan match before, a 3-0 win over Lecce in September last year, during which a red card shown to Davide Bartesaghi in the 80th minute was deemed incorrect and should have been a yellow. Despite that incident, the referee's overall performance in that fixture was solid, and Milan can extend their Serie A lead with a victory.
