"We talked about it at the end of October and reiterated it at the beginning of November: Milan are working on Leao's contract renewal. Clearly, Milan has priorities, especially based on deadlines. Maignan, Tomori, Saelemaekers has already renewed," he said. "Milan began discussions regarding the renewal with adjustments with Rafa Leao at the beginning of October, and negotiations are ongoing. The numbers and everything need to be worked out, but Milan intends to reward Leao for what he's demonstrating on the pitch."
"While 2025-26 has not been the easiest for Leao so far in terms of being able to stay consistently fit, when he has played he has contributed some important goals, with six in 11 games in Serie A so far. When Massimiliano Allegri arrived back in the summer, one of his immediate convictions was to play Leao as a centre-forward rather than as a winger, and he does seem more dangerous closer to goal."
AC Milan have opened talks to extend Rafael Leão's contract, with negotiations starting in early October and still ongoing. Leão has faced fitness issues in 2025–26 but has scored six goals in 11 Serie A appearances when available. Massimiliano Allegri has deployed Leão as a centre-forward, increasing his threat near goal. Leão's current contract runs until 2028 after a 2022–23 renewal, so there is no urgent expiry. Milan have already renewed contracts for Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori and Alexis Saelemaekers, and intend to reward Leão once financial terms are agreed.
