MN: A mercato for the future - Milan restock youth sector with six promising signings
"There was some frustration about AC Milan's perceived lack of movement in the January window, but in fact they made several moves for the future. As MilanNews write, given that Milan are second place in the league and have a squad with obvious gaps in some areas of the pitch, fans had high expectations for the winter transfer window. Instead only one signing for the first team was made: Niclas Füllkrug."
"Looking to the future While only one signing was made for the first team in January, the club made significant moves to strengthen the Milan Futuro squad with some very interesting signings. In defence, the 2008-born El Hadj Malick Cissè and 2007-born Magnus Dalpiaz arrived. In midfield the 2009-born Aaron Babaj, 2005-born Jacopo Sardo and 2008-born Yahya Idrissi-Regragui signed. To strengthen the attack, Alphadjo Cissè (2006-bon) was brought in."
AC Milan completed a single first-team signing in January, bringing in physical striker Niclas Füllkrug. The collapse of the Jean-Philippe Mateta deal on deadline day and the absence of a new central defender or right-back disappointed expectations. Sporting director Igli Tare said the club did not need further reinforcements and opted to continue with the current group that produced strong results. The club strengthened the Milan Futuro youth project by signing defenders El Hadj Malick Cissé and Magnus Dalpiaz, midfielders Aaron Babaj, Jacopo Sardo and Yahya Idrissi-Regragui, and forward Alphadjo Cissé. These youngsters joined Massimo Oddo's second team and will also train with the first team, giving Max Allegri chances to assess them, possibly during preseason.
