Midfield kings and a clear flop: Player ratings for Cagliari-Milan from Italian papers
"Taking a look at the player ratings handed out by Italian papers this morning, it's clear that AC Milan won their game against Cagliari thanks to a brilliant midfield. Rafael Leao scored the winner for the Rossoneri, finding the back of the net at the start of the second half, but he wasn't the MVP according to the papers. Instead, Milan benefitted from an exceptional midfield duo, namely Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot."
"The Frenchman was named the MOTM in our player ratings with a 7.5/10, and he got the same score from Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport. Tuttosport, meanwhile, gave him 6.5 and named Modric as the best one at 7 instead. As for the worst performer, the papers agreed that Pervis Estupinan needed to do a lot better on the left flank."
AC Milan beat Cagliari 1-0 thanks to a second-half Rafael Leao goal. Milan's midfield duo Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot were credited as decisive, with Rabiot receiving highest individual praise in two outlets. Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport gave Rabiot 7.5/10; Tuttosport rated him 6.5 and preferred Modric at 7. Several Milan starters earned solid marks in the 6–7.5 range, including Leao, Tomori and Saelemaekers. Pervis Estupinan was identified as the weakest performer on the left flank, receiving 6 from Gazzetta and 5.5 from Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport.
