Maignan unhappy with Roma's penalty: "What's Bartesaghi supposed to do? Cut his arm off?"
"We came here for the three points, but we faced a tough and difficult team: we knew it, at their home ground. We scored in the second half, and it's a shame we didn't finish and take the game."
"What's Bartesaghi supposed to do? Cut his arm off? The ball's close to him, and Celik kicks it at his hand. He could have even called for a second on Pulisic..."
"There are many very strong teams in Italy competing for the top four spots. Every point counts. We play every game to win and get as many points as possible to continue our progress."
Milan spent most of the first half under heavy Roma pressure but did not concede. Koni De Winter headed in a corner to give Milan the lead. Davide Bartesaghi was penalised for a handball inside the box and Roma were awarded a penalty. Lorenzo Pellegrini converted the spot kick to level the match. Maignan expressed clear displeasure with the penalty decision, arguing Bartesaghi could not reasonably avoid the contact and pointing to Celik's kick as the cause. Maignan also noted the tight competition for top-four places and Milan's aim to win every game.
