Inter president Marotta takes aim at Milan again: "We are the city's team"

Gerry Cardinale has raised concerns about Italian football modernization and referenced Inter after their 5-0 loss to PSG. Beppe Marotta responded by pointing to Inter’s trophies won over the past six years. During Inter’s current title celebrations, an open training session was held at Arena Civica. Marotta told DAZN and Sky that the event was held in an iconic city venue because Inter is the city’s team. He said Inter is the only club with two stars in Milan and the only one present at the celebration, framing it as a source of pride. Milan still lead overall trophies and have more Champions League success, though the gap has narrowed recently.

"Cardinale was asked in a recent interview about the state of Italian football, given that the RedBird Capital founder has gone on record before expressing his concern about a failure to modernise the system. In his assessment, he aimed a bit of a jab at Inter and their 5-0 loss to PSG."
