Manuel Akanji hopes to score his first Inter goal against AC Milan and is looking forward to his first Milan derby. Milan was linked late in the transfer window, and a loan with an option to buy was reportedly offered, but Akanji rejected it because he wanted Champions League football. He then joined Inter and described the club as the biggest in Italy. Akanji spoke after Switzerland's 1-1 draw with Kosovo that qualified Switzerland for the World Cup.
