GdS: Milan Futuro's forced reset has been strengthened by recent graduates
"AC Milan had big expectations for the Futuro project, and it certainly did not start well with relegation. However, it is still proving to be a success. The relegation to Serie D could have closed the door on the Milan Futuro project. Instead, though, it has been strengthened, and there is a case to be made about its successes already. In fact, the drop-down may have been a boost."
"Nevertheless, as Gazzetta dello Sport writes, with more than €15 million invested and the foundations set, it would have been silly to give up on the project, even during the disheartening days. As Jovan Kirovski stated, 'Results are moments. Growth is a story,' and this is true where the young Diavolo are concerned. The synergy between the Primavera and Futuro is, perhaps, stronger than ever, and this shows with a number of youngsters making the step up."
AC Milan invested more than €15 million in the Futuro project to build foundations for youth development. Relegation to Serie D was an unplanned setback but led to a strengthened Futuro structure and renewed focus on growth. The Primavera and Futuro systems now show increased synergy, producing several youngsters who have stepped up to senior opportunities. The club has supplemented academy recruitment with mercato signings aimed at development, including Yahya Idrissi from Chelsea and Magnus Dalpiaz from Bayern. Early success stories such as Davide Bartesaghi and Alex Jimenez indicate positive returns on investment. The next priority is improving the succession rate from youth to regular first-team roles.
