"AC Milan are getting closer to obtaining the signature from Mike Maignan on a new contract, another report has claimed. La Gazzetta dello Sport open their report with a nice bit of imagery: 'The prolonged downpour, it seems, is giving way to a pink-tinged sky'. There's no definitive agreement yet, but the conversation between Maignan and Milan regarding his contract has been moving positively in the last few hours."
"Maignan's desire until a few weeks ago was to leave on a free transfer. This was because of the cooling of relations with the management after the failure to reach an agreement a year ago, when the club made an offer then lowered it. The dialogue between the two sides completely stopped and all of the rumours were about where Maignan was going and who might replace him. Then several things happened, and the inertia of the situation began to change."
Contract talks between Mike Maignan and AC Milan have moved positively, bringing the goalkeeper closer to signing a new deal. Maignan has apparently decided that remaining with the Rossoneri is best for his career, provided his financial conditions are met. His earlier desire to leave on a free transfer stemmed from cooled relations after failed negotiations when the club lowered an earlier offer. Massimiliano Allegri's arrival helped shift the dynamic: he blocked a sale to Chelsea, retained Maignan as captain, and praised him. Team-mates and new goalkeeping coach Claudio Filippi supported Maignan. Milan submitted a third renewal proposal of €7m net per year including bonuses.
