GdS: Maignan eyeing milestone after agreeing on renewal with Milan - the details
"It has been in the works for quite some time, but Milan have finally got the Maignan negotiations over the line. Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto broke the story last night, stating that a verbal agreement has been reached for everything, including the agent commission. As added by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), the negotiations are now 'complete' and that means Milan won't have to worry about other clubs swopping in for a free transfer."
"The contract renewal will be long-term and, above all, generous: the player's salary will increase from the current €3.2m to the €5m plus bonuses per year. At 30 years old, he will effectively double his salary, getting the same amount as Rafael Leao. Of course, the renewal is also something that the club wanted a lot, making an exception to the usual salary policy."
AC Milan and goalkeeper Mike Maignan have reached a verbal agreement on a long-term contract renewal, including agent commission, with signatures pending. The completed negotiations remove the risk of Maignan leaving on a free transfer and secure his commitment to remain at the club. The renewal increases Maignan's salary from €3.2m to over €5m plus bonuses per year, effectively doubling his pay and matching Rafael Leao. The club made an exception to usual wage policy because of his decisive performances, leadership as captain, and alignment with the coaching staff's competitive ambitions. Maignan accepted the offer without counterproposal.
