GdS: Allegri requests more goals from his midfielder - Rabiot concern grows
"AC Milan's midfielders have struggled to contribute with goals so far this season, despite Massimiliano Allegri mentioning double digits at the start of the campaign. After the defeat against Lazio, speaking to the media, Allegri made it clear that the midfielders haven't contributed enough goals for Milan. When taking a look at the numbers, as highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo at the bottom) it's hard to disagree. No midfielder, unless you consider Christian Pulisic and Alexis Saelemaekers, has scored more than one goal this season."
"Digging into the data, there's no single explanation for all of them. Fofana, for example, is averaging over 1.6 shots per game and has hit the target the eleven times (compared to Pulisic's eight), but he's gotten very little out of his many attempts. Loftus-Cheek also has trouble aiming (just two shots on target out of 12), while Ricci, Modric, and Jashari attempt fewer shots, especially from outside the box."
Midfield goal production at AC Milan is notably low, with most midfielders having scored one goal or none so far this season. Christian Pulisic and Alexis Saelemaekers are the only exceptions approaching any meaningful tally. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Luka Modric, Youssouf Fofana, and Samuele Ricci each have a single goal, while Adrien Rabiot and Ardon Jashari remain goalless. Data shows varied causes: Fofana averages over 1.6 shots per game with many on target but few returns; Loftus-Cheek struggles with accuracy; Ricci, Modric, and Jashari attempt fewer shots, particularly from distance. Rival teams show stronger midfield goal contributions.
