"“I always joke that when I took over as Bologna coach, some people thought I was crazy. After the Champions League, after what Thiago Motta had built, it would have been difficult to replicate,” he said."
"“Instead, I found a top club, a top-level team. And in the league, we had a great run, bringing home a trophy that had been missing for fifty years, with 30,000 Bolognese fans at the Olimpico and lots of people cheering us on the open-top bus. It was thrilling.”"
"“My future? At this point in the season, there's always a flurry of names being thrown around among coaches and players. I'm very focused on the pitch because we still have some goals to achieve. I'm at a club where things work really well. I'll meet with the management and we'll see what we can do.”"
Vincenzo Italiano said he will speak with Bologna management about future plans. Reports in Italian media suggest AC Milan could overhaul management regardless of whether Champions League qualification for 2026-27 is achieved. Last summer, the Milan project was entrusted to Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri, while Italiano and Atalanta director Tony D’Amico were also discussed. New talk suggests CEO Giorgio Furlani could return to the duo if Tare and Allegri leave. Italiano described taking over Bologna as initially seen as unlikely, then highlighted success after the Champions League era of Thiago Motta. He said he is focused on remaining season goals and will meet management to decide next steps.
