The Florida Panthers are making a statement, a big statement, in the 2023 NHL playoffs.Florida is now two wins away from a place in the Stanley Cup finals after their 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in game 2 of the ECF.Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk scored the game winner in the third period to give the Panthers the edge in the series.

The Dodgers finished the first month-plus of the season with a 16-13 record and already have gotten May off to a nice start with a convincing win over the Phillies.For most of the first month of the season, we really couldn't get a sense of what exactly this team was made of.In some wins, they blew out the opposition.

Celtics White's buzzer-beater saved the Celtics' season.He made NBA history in the process.Derrick White had a putback for the ages on Saturday.It was also a historically rare feat.You likely know the story by now.But in case you need a refresher, White crashed the boards after his inbounds pass to Marcus Smart with three seconds left.

The Toronto Maple Leafs succumbed to the group-think of their critics, bought into the Classic NHL Magical Thinking as it relates to grit over players who aren't gritty but post consistently good results.Since then, the Toronto Maple Leafs - most especially their coach - have had a very hard time icing a decent lineup.

After a wild finish in Miami last night where the Heat secured a walk off win, they now go on the road to play the in-state rival Orlando Magic.Orlando is sitting at 13th place in the East and sporting a 23-33 record.Last night's game probably shouldn't have been as close as it was against the league's worst team in the Houston Rockets, but nonetheless secured the win.

The Miami Heat completed the back to back set of games in Miami against the Atlanta Hawks on the best note possible last night.They defeated Atlanta 130-128 on route to back to back wins, the first time they have been able to reach that feat since the All-Star break.Miami improves to 35-31 on the season and get a little breathing room from the Hawks in the standings as they now have a 2.5 game lead separating the 7th seed Heat and the 8th seed Hawks.

The Toronto Maple Leafs can't win for losing.When the Toronto Maple Leafs were on fire, it was "the regular season doesn't matter" but when they were struggling, it was "this team better shape up."To be honest, it's pretty annoying, but without any forward progress (at least the visible kind) it's pretty hard to avoid.

I think I'll start by quoting myself about the final result of last night's game since I can't say it better than I feel I did last night.I can already feel getting yelled at for this but: The Rangers have been short handed for over a week, they're down Motte as well tonight for 40 minutes, on the second night of a back to back.

One 6th of last nights game was played without Fred VanVleet's presence on the court.It was where the Raptors lost the game.Let's investigate why.Simply put, the Raptors lost the 8 minutes and 12 seconds that VanVleet wasn't on the court by 26 points.It's hard to even fathom that type of disparity, but it happened.
