Gus Kenworthy has the skills needed to make it in the world of Heated Rivalry and might have also just put his best skate-wearing foot forwards to join the cast. The Olympic skier, 34, has come out of retirement to represent Team GB at the upcoming Winter Olympics in Italy. In 2015, Kenworthy came out as gay after being linked to Miley Cyrus, a relationship he's said is mirrored in the Canadian LGBTQ+ sports drama.

Enter Heated Rivalry (Saturday 10 January, 9pm, Sky Atlantic), a Canadian queer romp so hot it threatens to scorch the ice it skates upon. Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov are star players from Montreal and Moscow respectively, mysteriously drawn to each other on the rink, in the full glare of the media. Well, not that mysteriously. The co-leads get down to business almost immediately, with a not-quite meet cute in a shower room.

"There are boy aquariums all over the United States," a TikTok creator explains in a recent post. The video then shows a clip of someone carrying a bucket filled with hockey pucks. "Come feed the fish at the boy aquarium with me," the closed captions reads. The person tosses the pucks onto the rink as players skate past. On TikTok, ice hockey arenas have been rebranded as "boy aquariums."

A decorated amateur golfer and former outstanding ice hockey player, John had an incredible sports career that began under the tutelage of the legendary Olympic hero and ice hockey coach, Herb Brooks at the University of Minnesota. After a brief stint in professional hockey, he turned his passion to golf, winning numerous amateur titles and representing the United States in four Walker Cups.

Based on the beloved novels of the same name from author Rachel Reid, the television adaptation of Heated Rivalry is set the on-and-off court relationship between a pair of professional Major League Hockey players - Montreal Meteors star Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storie) of the Boston Raiders. On the ice, the pair are sworn rivals, but off of it, they must navigate a forbidden love while grappling in a very different way.

Hudson Thornton, former Prince George Cougars captain, is joining the University of Saskatchewan Huskies next season after a stint with the Hershey Bears and Orlando Solar Bears.
