Tesla's Full Self-Driving (Supervised) software is finally available in Europe for the first time. The Netherlands recently gave Tesla the green light to deploy FSD to its citizens, but in order to activate it, there's a catch: You now have to pass a quiz before you use it for the first time.
The Courts Service says it has now been asking for system change for 15 years and yet its staff "currently have no power to ask for the driver number". A blame game has erupted as thousands of motorists are feared to be avoiding penalty points, due to a loophole on the gathering of driver numbers.
The UK driving theory test lasts approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes in total. It is divided into two separate sections: Multiple-choice section - 57 minutes Hazard perception test - approximately 20 minutes Although the actual testing time is just over an hour, you should expect your full appointment at the test centre to last around 90 minutes, including identity checks and instructions. All truckers and pass drivers will have to take their commercial driver's license tests in English as the Trump administration expands its aggressive campaign to improve safety in the industry and get unqualified drivers off the road. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced the latest effort Friday to ensure that drivers understand English well enough to read road signs and communicate with law enforcement officers. Official evaluations from National Highways, some of which had been held back by the Department for Transport (DfT) since completion in 2023, showed that a slew of big projects to convert the hard shoulder on the M1, M4, M6 and M25 were rated as poor or very poor value. The UK's Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is recruiting a chief digital and information officer, partly to help sort out its bot-ridden practical driving test booking system. "You will lead a critical portfolio that supports DVSA's plan (launched in December 2024) to reduce driving test waiting times, protect learner drivers from exploitation, and improve the customer booking system," stated chief executive Beverley Warmington, who joined the agency at the end of last year.
UK motorists are facing higher vehicle ownership costs after Chancellor Rachel Reeves confirmed changes to Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) that will increase charges from April 2026. The policy, implemented through HM Treasury fiscal reforms, forms part of a wider transition toward emissions-based transport taxation as fuel duty revenues decline. Officials say the system is designed to balance climate targets with long-term funding for road infrastructure. The steepest increases will affect motorists buying high-pollution cars.
