Design concepts live in that fascinating space between "what if" and "why not," where the constraints of manufacturing budgets and market research haven't yet trimmed away the boldest ideas. While finished products get the spotlight and the sales figures, concepts represent design thinking at its most uninhibited, tackling problems we didn't even know we had and proposing solutions that make us wonder why nobody thought of this sooner.

One of the concepts that Toyota plans to unveil at the Japan Mobility Show this year is a futuristic (and likely fully electric) interpretation of a Corolla sedan. The car seems to advance the design language that we've already seen on Toyota's production models, but it's more angular and futuristic. It's definitely a Corolla because it says so on the back. Had it not had Corolla' lettering on its trunklid, you wouldn't know what it's meant to be because it looks nothing like today's model.

The Apple Watch 11C concept asks a compelling question: what if Cupertino decided to revisit that moment of accessible joy, only this time on your wrist? This isn't a real product (at least, not yet), but rather a playful reimagining that brings the "C" philosophy back to Apple's wearable lineup. The result looks as if it leaped off a Lisa Frank notebook and onto your arm, radiating the same energy that made the original 5C phones so memorable.

The right device can turn a chaotic moment into crisp, usable audio, and it doesn't hurt if it looks good doing it.
