A woman who sustained severe trauma at an Oakland residence Friday morning later died and her death is being investigated as a homicide, authorities said. No other information has been released about the woman. Police also have not yet said how she sustained the trauma. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
Police have identified the woman whose body was found in a plastic bag on a Harlem street earlier this week. The remains of Bonnie Schulman-Rice, 35, were discovered lying among a garbage heap near the corner of East 125th Street and Park Avenue at about 6:33 p.m. on Oct. 27. Officers from the 25th Precinct made the discovery after receiving a 911 call about an unconscious woman on the sidewalk.
At around 10 a.m. on Oct. 18, a hunter who was "deep in the Freetown State Forest" made a 911 call "that indicated the discovery of skeletal remains," the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said in a press release. Police who responded were directed to a Honda Accord that was far into the forest off of an access road, the DA said.
