The San Francisco Fire Department performed a rescue and put out a car fire on Junipero Serra Boulevard Sunday morning, and one person in the crash required hospitalization. The crash and subsequent fire happened just after 10 am on Sunday, January 4, and the SFFD says they soon responded to the scene at Junipero Serra Boulevard and Brotherhood Way, in the vicinity of the Outer Mission near the Daly City border.
Melanie's daughter, Katie Beeching, has now confirmed the women were saved by the Sri Lankan tourist police yesterday afternoon. They are currently in Colombo resting up before their flight home. Katie said: We are hugely relieved that Mum and Janine are now on their way home and would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the brave officers from the Sri Lankan tourist police who went out of their way to rescue them in such difficult circumstances.
The organization received reports on its hotline of a California sea lion on the busy beach Sunday and a team of trained volunteers from the hospital's triage facility in Castroville arrived at the beach just after 3 p.m. The sea lion weighed about 200 pounds and appeared to be in poor condition, said Giancarlo Rulli, a spokesperson for the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito. It was reactive and registered the volunteers' presence but was lethargic.
Nearby kayakers and a boat emblazoned with the Ghostbusters logo came to the aid of three people whose kayaks overturned while they were watching the Giants-Dodgers game Saturday. The Giants lost the game, 13-7. As KRON4 reports, the kayakers fell overboard around 8:30 pm and were quickly rescued by nearby kayakers and a private boat prior to the San Francisco Fire Department's arrival on the scene.
The solo female climber fell while nearing the summit of California's second-tallest mountain, injuring her leg severely and losing her backpack, leaving her alone and without supplies.
