Who was Franz Kafka and why is he more popular than ever? DW 05/29/2024
Briefly

Born in Prague in 1883, Franz Kafka belonged to the German-speaking Jewish minority, which made him somewhat of an outsider. He lacked acceptance from his family and faced his father's disapproval of his writing career.
Despite a day job as an insurance clerk, Kafka pursued activities he enjoyed. His best friend Max Brod recognized his talent, encouraging him to publish his works, which Kafka initially doubted.
Kafka's unfinished novel 'The Trial' remains popular globally, depicting a man accused without knowing the charges. Max Brod defied Kafka's wish to burn his writings, preserving his legacy.
