The hugely popular queer novel, The Song of Achilles, had a TV series adaptation in development with director Matthew López, but unfortunately, the project 'fell apart'. Fans have been eager for a live action adaptation since the novel gained popularity, with high expectations for a multi-season arc.
Matthew López expressed his dedication to the project, investing weeks in research on the Trojan War and conferring with historian Stephen Fry. Though the series stalled, López praised Madeline Miller's novel and respected her discretion in handling its adaptation.
