One spring day in 1992, Eric Nies, a twenty-year-old model, was part of an MTV 'Real World' experiment with planted stimuli in the house to provoke reactions from housemates.
Co-creator Mary-Ellis Bunim called these interventions 'throwing pebbles in the pond,' aiming to incite drama, although some crew members objected to any manipulation, fearing it would compromise truthfulness.
