The setting of the beach bears the greatest resemblance to my own, linking summer holidays intrinsically with memories of adolescence spent seaside: wind, smells, and noise.
A lot of people are really derogatory about my work and say it's just art that something like a teenage girl would make. Well, yeah ... I'm still stuck in a teenage world.
The summer and its visual culture remind us of the vast but ultimately unreachable future for girls, highlighting both freedom and its limitations.
