It brings together two things that are separated by centuries and centuries of history...Both of them are design-both of them have had a meaning to a culture and a functionality, and both have helped you understand a particular moment in history.
I am interested in a very expansive definition of design that takes into account aesthetics and functionality, but also systems...For me, I'm as interested in an 18th century teacup as I am in highway infrastructure for the whole entire country-both things are designed.
