What to know about a Kentucky manhunt after 5 people were shot on I-75
Briefly

The shooting began about 5:30 p.m. Saturday near Exit 49 of the highway, about eight miles north of London, Laurel County Sheriff John Root said in a Facebook post. Twelve vehicles were hit by gunfire, said Capt. Richard Dalrymple of the Laurel County Sheriff's Office. Authorities don't know why Couch started shooting, sheriff's office spokesman Gilbert Acciardo said, but he added that it was not a road-rage situation.
He said Saturday evening that the search had been grueling and covered thousands of acres of mostly rough terrain. Authorities have been using drones and helicopters along with search dogs to help with the job, he said. Couch is a Kentucky native who served in the National Guard for at least four years, authorities said, some of that time as a member of the engineer battalion.
