Southern Baptist Convention narrowly rejects total ban on female pastors
Briefly

The motion saying the SBC cooperates only with churches that do not affirm, appoint, or employ a woman as a pastor of any kind garnered 61 percent of votes, to 38 percent who rejected it.
Opponents of the amendment argued for handling the issue on a case-by-case basis, noting the low number of churches with women in pastoral positions among the 47,000 SBC congregations.
The Southern Baptist Convention, with 14 million members, has shifted rightwards over the years and has seen a decline in women's participation in seminaries since the 1960s.
Rev. Greg Perkins highlighted that the passage of the amendment would be concerning, leading many to reconsider their engagement with the convention.
