Hurricane Milton made landfall at around 8:30 p.m. near Siesta Key, about eight miles south of Sarasota, Florida. With maximum sustained winds of 120 mph, this Category 3 hurricane surged earlier than anticipated.
The National Hurricane Center reported that the hurricane, having shifted its path southward, is forecasted to produce dangerous storm surges of up to 13 feet, posing significant risk to coastal areas.
