Julian Assange can appeal his extradition to the U.S., a British court has ruled

A court in London has ruled that Julian Assange can appeal extradition to the U.S. based on First Amendment rights and concerns about his nationality.

Assange's lawyers argued that the U.S. should provide assurances to obviate the need for appeal, including no death penalty, equal treatment, and protection of free speech.

Assange gained fame through WikiLeaks' release of classified documents in 2010, leaked by Chelsea Manning.

The High Court judges identified three grounds with a 'real prospect of success' for Assange's appeal against extradition to the U.S.
