Florida's latest plan to solve cold cases? Playing cards for inmates.
Briefly

Each card provided to inmates in Florida's prisons will contain a photo, a name of a crime victim or missing person, along with a summary of their case. The initiative aims to help solve approximately 20,000 unsolved homicides in Florida.
Inmates are encouraged to call an anonymous tip line to report information about cases featured on the cards, potentially leading to more leads. Tipsters who contribute to an arrest can receive a cash reward of up to $9,500, according to Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody.
More than 5,000 decks of cards will be distributed, featuring details of dozens of homicide victims, missing persons, and hit-and-run victims. The initiative is aimed at transforming playing cards into a tool for justice.
Florida first introduced the strategy of distributing playing cards in prisons in the mid-2000s, drawing inspiration from playing cards used by U.S. soldiers during the Iraq War. The cards have previously led to inmates reporting suspects in cold cases, like the instance involving Ingrid Lugo in 2004.
