ZooTampa has taken extensive precautions ahead of Hurricane Milton, preparing nighttime enclosures and storing weeks' worth of food to ensure the animals' safety.
Tiffany Burns stated that the staff are trained to monitor animal behavior during the storm and have ensured their comfort with adequate food and shelter.
In preparing for Hurricane Milton, large animals were moved into hurricane-proof enclosures while smaller mammals and birds were brought indoors for safety.
ZooTampa's staff have volunteered to remain on site during the storm to care for more than 1,000 animals, ensuring they have everything they need.
