12 rescued after being trapped for hours in Colorado gold mine
Briefly

"One person was killed in the accident, Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell said at a news conference, which happened on a conveyance system about 500 feet underground at the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine near Cripple Creek, Colo."
"Eleven other people on the elevator at the time, including two children, were rescued shortly after the mechanical issue, which Mikesell said 'created a severe danger for the participants.'"
"Twelve others remained trapped in a mine shaft 1,000 feet underground for several hours after the elevator malfunction before they were rescued Thursday evening, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said."
"The Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine is a private business operating as a tourist attraction, Mikesell said. It did not immediately respond to a request for comment."
