On Tuesday, the US Justice Department announced that Ryan R., the accused gunman plotting to kill Donald Trump, has been indicted on three additional charges including attempted assassination, potentially leading to a life sentence.
The indictment against Ryan R. was handed down by a grand jury in Miami and randomly assigned to judge Aileen Cannon, who has previously been scrutinized for her handling of Trump's classified documents case.
Prior to his arrest, Ryan R. had expressed intentions to kill Trump in a handwritten note and even offered $150,000 for someone to carry out the assassination.
The case’s serious charges come amid a complex backdrop of legal battles involving Trump, particularly as Cannon was involved in dismissing a significant criminal case against him earlier this year.
