Huawei to dump Windows for PCs,use own HarmonyOS instead

Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s consumer business group chair, announced that current PCs will be the last to operate on Windows, transitioning to the proprietary HarmonyOS, which features an entirely new kernel.
HarmonyOS Next, the self-developed operating system by Huawei, will not support Android applications and is said to be superior in performance and security, distinguishing it from previous platforms.
Huawei holds a modest ten percent share of China’s PC market, dominated by Lenovo with 38 percent, suggesting that the impact of withdrawing from Windows on Microsoft may not be substantial.
The Bombay High Court deemed India’s proposed government-run fact-checking unit unconstitutional, ensuring that measures to prevent misinformation do not infringe on free speech or enable censorship.
