Apple is discontinuing its Apple Pay Later service just two years after its announcement. The company mentioned the redundancy of the service as loans through Affirm will soon be available on Apple Pay.
Existing users with current payment plans can continue accessing them through the Wallet app. Apple plans to introduce a new global installment loan offering, replacing the Apple Pay Later service.
The discontinuation of Apple Pay Later comes only seven months after its launch in the U.S. Users will now have the option to apply for loans directly through Affirm when checking out with Apple Pay.
Apple stated that installment loans will be accessible globally through credit and debit cards, thus leading to the discontinuation of Apple Pay Later specifically in the U.S.
