Women's Euro 2025 round-up: Norway book knockout spot as hosts Switzerland pick up big win
Briefly

Norway secured a 2-1 victory over Finland, becoming the first team to reach the knockout stages of Euro 2025. An own goal from Finnish defender Eva Nystrom gave Norway an early lead. Finland equalized through Oona Sevenius after some strong possession play. Although Norway made tactical substitutions for the second half, Finland continued to threaten. In the 84th minute, Guro Reiten assisted a decisive goal from Hansen, who scored the winning goal as Norway held on despite late pressure from Finland.
With just three minutes on the clock, pressure down Norway's right forced an own goal from Finnish centre-back Eva Nystrom, whose attempted clearance flashed beyond goalkeeper Anna Koivunen and into the net.
Finland's equaliser arrived on 32 minutes and was beautifully worked. Oona Siren split the Norwegian back line with a defence-splitting pass and fellow youngster Oona Sevenius applied a composed left-foot finish high into the top-right corner.
With the clock ticking down, Norway finally rediscovered their cutting edge. On 84 minutes, Guro Reiten gathered a loose ball in midfield and slid a perfectly weighted pass into the channel.
Hansen, who had been lively all evening, cut inside from the right and rifled an angled right-foot shot across Koivunen and into the far corner to make it 2-1.
