Lennart Karl remaining positive despite recent dip in form for Bayern Munich
"Lennart Karl really burst onto the scene for Bayern Munich in the earlier phases of this season when he had increased chances due to the long-term absence of Jamal Musiala. To date, Bayern's youngster has tallied seven goals and three assists from a total of twenty-nine appearances across all competitions for the senior squad this season; three goals and one assist having come in the Champions League, and four goals and two assists having come in the Bundesliga."
"Musiala has now made his way back from his long injury layover, though, and all of Serge Gnabry, Luis Diaz, and Michael Olise are in cracking form behind Harry Kane in Bayern's firing line and Karl has not found the back of the net since the 3-1 Bundesliga win over FC Köln back towards the beginning of January and his only goal contribution since then was the assist he provided in the 2-1 win over PSV Eindhoven on the final Champions League match day of the initial group phase. By his own, high standards that he's set for himself with the evidence on display from earlier this season, Karl is experiencing a bit of a rut."
""I just need to keep giving it my all. You can't always deliver perfect performances. If I keep pushing in training and in games, the good performances will come again. I'm 17 years old. I'll just keep going," the 17-year-old told Sport1 (via @iMiaSanMia) when he was asked about the current form dip he's been experiencing. Karl's slight stepover mishap from the win over Hoffenheim followed by Alexander Prass's comical thumbs up surely won't do a world a good for the youngster's confidence, but it hardly had any sort of negative impact on the match."
Lennart Karl earned increased first-team minutes at Bayern during Jamal Musiala's long absence and recorded seven goals and three assists in 29 senior appearances this season, with three goals and one assist in the Champions League and four goals and two assists in the Bundesliga. Musiala has returned and teammates Serge Gnabry, Luis Diaz, and Michael Olise are in form, limiting Karl's opportunities. Karl has not scored since the 3-1 Bundesliga win over FC Köln in early January and has registered only one assist since then. Karl intends to keep training hard, remain confident, and work to rediscover his earlier form.
