Taco Bell is opening a $5 million taco tab and offering free Doritos Locos Tacos nationwide in celebration of winning the battle over the "Taco Tuesday" trademark.
The giveaway is valid in 49 states, with New Jersey being the only exception as the "Taco Tuesday" trademark is still owned by Gregory's Restaurant and Bar.
Taco John's, the regional taco chain that previously owned the trademark, decided to end its fight against Taco Bell's lawyers and relinquish the trademark due to the phrase becoming widely used in the marketplace.
