Gilroy: Owners close historic Milias Restaurant, a downtown landmark
Briefly

"We hope that you have some great memories of the times that we shared at the Milias," co-owners and friends Adam Sanchez and Ann Zyburra told customers on Facebook.
They renovated and relaunched the Milias in 2011, nearly 90 years after the current building was constructed in 1922, and 116 years after Yugoslavian immigrant George Milias Sr. first opened a chophouse on the site.
In the decades after U.S. Highway 101 was built through town, the William Weeks-designed Mediterranean Revival hotel and restaurant - located on nearby Monterey Highway at Sixth Street - attracted its share of famous customers, especially those driving between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
