A new commercial space mission named Fram2, led by entrepreneur Chun Wang, will observe polar regions from low orbit with crew members from Norway, Australia, and Germany.
Fram2 will conduct scientific experiments in space, including the first X-rays in space and observation of unusual light emissions resembling auroras, during its three to five-day stay in orbit.
The mission reflects Wang's admiration for early explorers like Nansen, with a connection to the famous icebreaker 'Fram,' and SpaceX has launched 13 crewed missions so far.
Fram2 would be the sixth commercial astronaut mission when launched, with the team keeping an eye on a late 2024 lift-off date for the polar orbit mission from Florida.
