Can satellites combat wildfires? Inside the booming 'space race' to fight the flames
Briefly

Known as FireSat, the orbiting surveillance network will scan the globe every 20 minutes in search of wildfire activity, utilizing six spectral bands to detect fires through various conditions.
"It's really a game-changer when it comes to resource allocation, now we have a high-fidelity picture of every single fire, helping us deploy resources more efficiently," said Chris Anthony.
Data from FireSat will not only locate fires but also assess their intensity and speed, crucial for guiding firefighting, emergency operations, and evacuations.
The Earth Fire Alliance plans to launch over 50 satellites by 2026, reflecting a growing interest in using technology to address major global challenges.
