'Tons of them': 'Shark park' in Santa Cruz sees surge in great whites
Briefly

You'll see people splashing around the beach and they don't realize there are like six white sharks just like 100 yards in back of them. The sharks just hang out there. They have no interest in the people.
This year, the great white sharks are gathering yet again, and in higher numbers than have been seen in past years. Scientists at CSU Monterey Bay have noticed a surge in the shark population.
In years past, the team would count about 20 young sharks in a typical index survey. 'This year, we've been able to see on our biggest days maybe double that,' according to Sal Jorgensen.
