According to a Sharks spokesperson, close to 10,000 free tickets have now been claimed for the team's official NHL Draft watch party on June 28 at SAP Center in San Jose.
The Sharks won the draft lottery earlier this month and now hold the No. 1 overall pick for the first time in the team's 33-year history. The Sharks are expected to select the 17-year-old Celebrini, who is unanimously considered the best player available in this year's draft.
A five-figure crowd at SAP Center would rival the size of the draft party the Chicago Blackhawks held last season as fans anticipated the selection of then-17-year-old Connor Bedard, who was and still is considered a generational talent.
