The Cubs released right-handers Dan Straily and Kyle McGowin from their minor league contracts with the team. Straily signed with Chicago in April and McGowin signed in May, both returning to the affiliated minors after deals with the independent Atlantic League for the 2024 season.
Straily, with MLB experience and success in the KBO, faced struggles with a 5.49 ERA in Iowa, struggling primarily with home runs. McGowin, despite better performances in lower levels, couldn't replicate his success in Triple-A, leading to his release.
