49ers mailbag: What's gotten into Ambry Thomas? Who's your Brock Purdy comp now?
Briefly

"With him being able to maintain his weight, feel good about his body - I think it helps him mentally," Wilks said. "That's one of the things they all told me: 'We've got to be careful because he may go back home or wherever he goes, and he may come back 15, 20 pounds lighter.' But he's been maintaining his weight and doing well. But what I love about him most is that he's emphasizing working on the details. I always talk about the details and competing against yourself. And I can see that with him each and every day."
It doesn't sound like Charvarius Ward's groin injury is long term. But any muscle strain - groin, calf, hamstring - can turn into something worse. If Ward missed a stretch of games, it would affect two positions - outside cornerback and nickel cornerback (because Isaiah Oliver would play there instead of Deommodore Lenoir).
